Whale Chalets are located at 15775 Cabot Trail Highway in Cheticamp,
Nova Scotia. They are ideally situated on a sloped hill that offers
spectacular views of the Cape Breton Highlands and the majestic waters
of our coastline at the north end of the village. Our distinctive crafted
pine signs give you a hint of what to expect from your stay, a relaxed
experience surrounded by nature. If you are coming from the Sydney/Louisbourg area, we’re 180 KM or a 2hour drive. Take Highway #125 towards North Sydney, then Hwy#105 towards Baddeck. About 10minutes past Baddeck take Exit 7 to Cabot Trail/ Margaree/Cheticamp and follow this highway to Cheticamp. The Halifax International Airport is about 4 1/2 hours away. If you are driving from the mainland of Nova Scotia, follow the Trans Canada Highway #104 heading east to Cape Breton. As you enter Cape Breton at the Canso Causeway, there is a small rotary at the top of the hill and a Visitor’s Information Centre on the right hand side of the road. The rotary offers two different routes to the Cabot Trail and the Cheticamp area. You can follow Route 19-Inverness/Cheticamp which takes you along the picturesque shore line of the Ceilidh Trail. This highway passes through the communities of Port Hood, Mabou, Inverness and Margaree Forks. This route is approximately 150kms or two hours driving distance from the Causeway to Cheticamp. The second option is to follow the rotary exit to the Trans Canada Highway #105 –Baddeck. You will travel for approximately 85kms or 1 hour driving distance on Highway#105 towards Baddeck. Then take Exit 7–CabotTrail/Margaree/Cheticamp. You will see a large gift shop/restaurant called the Red Barn at this exit. This is the Cabot Trail Highway, approximately 88kms or 1hour driving distance to Cheticamp. Whatever route you take to Cheticamp and the Cabot Trail give your self plenty of time to take in the sights around the village before the evening sun sets over the water, you’ll be glad you did! |
